The German artist/musician carsten nicolai [noto, alva noto] uses electronic sound and visual
art as a kind of hybrid- tool to create his own microscopic view of creative processes. his
world looks more like a laboratory - constantly morphing in space and time, influenced by the
impulses of the media world, sound - the message as code - becomes, the primary theme.

... speed of data-flow is equivalent to the speed of our time. in an era when virtual products of our ideas are expanding, we are simultaneously positioning a calm point in which to settle ourselves.
a vector graphic - a storage file, is translated into raw audio data as the source material from which constellations of diffused sound start to form. special emphasis is put on the rhythmic aspect of the digitalised and rasterised data. the tool of the transformation reveals itself by the structure of the recording. |
